ESPN.com is reporting that Charlie Johnson is the Colts starting left tackle, not Tony Ugoh. Jim Caldwell told reporters that he wants Charlie Johnson and Tony Ugoh battle to find who deserves to start at left tackle.
Johnson was just taken off of the PUP list, and is now the Colts starting left tackle. Johnson spent the 2008 season playing mostly guard, after playing offensive tackle in 2007 and 2006. Ugoh had a sophomore slump last season after a great rookie year.
Caldwell also mentioned that Ryan Diem will also be used at left tackle. Diem is the Colts normal starter at right tackle. Caldwell is also using Ugoh at right tackle. It seems to me that Ugoh could start at right tackle in 2009.
Antonio Johnson and Marlin Jackson were taken off of the PUP list, while Dallas Clark sat out of practice for extra rest. Clark is not injured, but just a little worn down. Jackson will start at corner in 2009, while Johnson is looking for a roster spot.
