With the 31st, it's easy to see the Colts go in one of three directions. They could try to improve the run game by drafting an offensive lineman. They can bolster the middle of the defensive front by drafting a tackle. Or, they could simply look at the best player available.
In the FC mock draft, the first round quality trench players are gone. That leaves Brandon Spikes as a consolation prize.
And if that's the case, Spikes is one hell of a parting gift.
I may be playing Colts GM in this pick, but I have a feel the real GM, Bill Polian, would be very intrigued by having a player of Spikes' quality remain available at this pick.
Considering Polian's draft history, this would be a very viable pick should the first 30 picks work out as projected.
First of all, Polian and the Colts value production. What a player did in an actual game means so much more than what a player does against a stop watch.
