T.Y. Hilton: Updated Fantasy Outlook for Colts’ Stud Rookie WR
Posted By Brandon Alisoglu On November 25, 2012 @ 7:11 pm In Colts News | No Comments
T.Y. Hilton just had one of those did-you-see-that games.
First, he kicked it all off with a 75-yard punt return.
It was, in a word, nifty. He showed the vision to find the correct seams, the agility to make moves on the fly and the speed to break away from everyone.
Hilton followed up this earlier score with a game-clinching eight-yard touchdown catch. In all, he ended the day with three catches for 33 receiving yards and a score to go along with his 111 return yards.
And, of course, the return touchdown.
In case you don’t understand how big of a day he had:

That’s pretty darn good.
But where does this leave us as fantasy owners now?
There’s a big positive factor for Hilton lining up under center for the Indianapolis Colts .
With Andrew Luck’s 240-yard day against the Buffalo Bills , he etched his name in the record books as the most prolific rookie passer through 11 games. Obviously, that type of production is going to create opportunities for the guys on the other end of those passes to rack up a few fantasy points.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t make Hilton a consistent fantasy option. He remains a boom-or-bust play every week.
The majority of the above-mentioned opportunities have gone to Reggie Wayne, and it appears they will continue to. Against the Bills, Wayne was targeted 14 times to Hilton’s three.
And there were two other Colts (Donnie Avery 8, Dwayne Allen 6) who garnered more looks than the young speedster.
Indianapolis has a decent bevy of pass-catchers. While Hilton is talented, he is going to remain the third or fourth option at a well-catered table.
This has been the trend throughout the season. Hilton only has one game with double-digit targets and has two in which he only received one pass.
Should you play him? That depends on your other options.
If you do insert him into your lineup, prepare yourself for every scenario. It’s impossible to rule any out.
