Peyton Manning: Colts QB Would Be Insane To Play This Season

Posted By Alex Kay On November 20, 2011 @ 1:34 pm In Colts News | No Comments

Peyton Manning [1] would be plain stupid to play in 2011.

There is legitimately no solid reason for him to even attempt a comeback this season with the Indianapolis Colts [2], even though he is floating rumors out that he will.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen [3], Manning is talking about playing in “controlled circumstances” in some games later this season.

He would be limited to red-zone situations and the two-minute drill with the atrocious Colts offense. What’s the point?

The team is 0-10 and has absolutely no hope of making the playoffs.

He would be putting himself at a huge risk for further injury each and every time he steps on the field if he is not properly healed from neck fusion surgery yet.

While it is good that he feels he can play, the Colts brass needs to stop him from suiting up and just put him on the IR to end any talk of him coming back in 2011.

Did they not just sign him to a five-year, $90 million contract with $54.4 million guaranteed?

Do they realize he is 35 years old right now and is lucky to even be able to play football again after this surgery?

This isn’t some cheap, backup QB here; this is Peyton freaking Manning we are dealing with.

The Colts franchise is on the line and they can’t afford to have their marquee superstar going down for good because he decided to take some snaps in the red zone during a 42-7 blowout loss for the 0-14 Colts this year.

That’s a nightmare scenario for Indianapolis and one they would be wise to completely avoid.

Put Manning on the IR and end all of the crazy talk of him playing this year.
