Joseph Addai Injury: Colts’ Nightmare Season Takes Another Horror-Movie Turn

Posted By Donald Wood On October 11, 2011 @ 11:12 am In Colts News | No Comments

The Indianapolis Colts [1] lost Joseph Addai [2] to an injury in the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs [3] on Sunday, and now the bad news gets worse with the possibility of Addai missing up to three weeks.

As if this was the movie Halloween, the Indianapolis Colts would be the Jamie Lee Curtis while the injury bug was Michael Myers. True, Myers never killed Curtis, but he did enough damage to ruin her for the rest of her life.

Okay, I admit that is a bit extreme, but losing the quarterback that so obviously was your whole team and now your veteran running back that was helping to keep the ship as afloat as it possibly could be in Addai is pretty horrific.

Rotoworld is reporting on the expectations for Joseph Addai for the next few weeks [4]:

ESPN’s John Clayton suggested on SportsCenter Monday that Joseph Addai’s right hamstring strain could sideline him for 1-3 weeks. Although it’s supposed to come off as a “report” on ESPN, Clayton is just guessing. “Could keep him out a couple weeks,” said Clayton. “Addai could be down one, two, possibly three weeks.” Coach Jim Caldwell’s comments Monday did suggest Donald Brown’s role would grow for the “next couple weeks,” indicating that’s how long the Colts anticipate Addai sitting out. Brown and Delone Carter will share the workload until Addai gets back.

This news is absolutely terrible for a team that is already too beaten and bruised to continue on for much longer, and the “Suck for Luck” campaign needs to look no farther than Indianapolis for its one and only stop.

With Curtis Painter as the team’s starting quarterback and a combination of Donald Brown and Delone Carter in the backfield, this could be one of the worst offenses in the history of the NFL [5].

I know Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne are amazing players, but when the rest of the offense is mediocre at best, the effort is futile. News that Addai is out makes this pill even harder to swallow.

Peyton Manning [6] should be awarded the MVP award just because of how bad the Colts are without him.
