Jaguars vs. Colts: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info, Game Time and More
Posted By Alex Kay On September 19, 2012 @ 8:40 am In Colts News | No Comments
Regardless of the lack of playoff implications, it should be fun to watch the Andrew Luck-led Colts offense. It may also be a chance for the Jags attack to get back on track.
Let’s take a look at when and where you can watch the game, what’s at a stake during it, a report on who isn’t playing, a few players to keep an eye on and a prediction on the final score.
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.
When: Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. ET
Live Stream: NFL Sunday Ticket
Listen: Online at NFL Audio Pass
Betting Line: Colts -3 (-115), Over/Under 42 (via ScoresAndOdds.com)
What’s At Stake?
While the Colts are coming off an impressive win at home against the Minnesota Vikings , a playoff stake certainly isn’t on the line when the Jags come to town on Sunday.
The divisional rivals are bound to pick in the early portions of the 2013 draft, as their inexperienced QBs still have to get accustomed to the NFL game. The two teams are also low on veteran savvy and high on raw talent at many key positions.
It’ll take a few years before these franchises can be considered real contenders again, but this game will showcase some of the league’s upcoming stars.
QB Blaine Gabbert—Glute—PRB
LB Daryl Smith—Groin—QST
RB Rashad Jennings—Knee—QST
DE Dwight Freeney—Ankle—QST
WR Austin Collie—Head—QST
LB Pat Angerer—Foot—QST
Jaguars Player to Watch: Blaine Gabbert
The Jags signal-caller hasn’t had the best start to his 2012 campaign.
Gabbert has completed just 30-of-58 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns in the first two games.
While he’s keeping his turnover number down (just one fumble thus far), he’s not doing enough to help this team move the chains.
Jacksonville had just 16 minutes of possession in its Week 2 blowout loss to the Houston Texans , recording just nine first downs in the entire contest.
If Gabbert and the rest of the offense can’t nudge the ball past the sticks, their dismal start to the season will only get worse.
Colts Player to Watch: Andrew Luck
Luck is quickly adapting to the rigors of the NFL, and he picked up his first win last Sunday.
The No. 1 overall pick has already racked up 533 yards and three touchdowns on 43-of-76 passing.
He took a major step forward against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2, completing 64.5 percent of his pass attempts and threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions, helping his team grit out a 23-20 victory.
If the former Stanford standout can keep steadily improving, it will give the football fanatics in Indy something to look forward to in 2013.
Prediction: Colts 17, Jaguars 14
The Colts defense has done an admirable job containing powerful running games in the first two weeks.
They held Adrian Peterson to just 60 yards and didn’t allow a rushing touchdown during the game.
While the unit allowed the Bears to rack up 115 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in Week 1, it took 33 attempts, and Michael Bush pounded two of those in from the 1-yard line.
These tenaciousness run-stoppers will look to bottle up Maurice Jones-Drew and force the Jags to rely on Gabbert’s arm.
The second-year man out of Missouri isn’t ready to start beating teams via the air, so the Colts get the edge here and claim their first divisional victory.
