Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai suffered a hamstring injury in their 28-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, October 9. Addai’s injury surfaced late in the first quarter. He did not return and finished with six carries for 19 yards and one catch for six yards as reported by ESPN.
Addai was scheduled to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on Monday but the full findings haven’t been disclosed. The Indianapolis Star quoted Addai as saying “Sometimes you feel it tear. This was a little grab.”
Addai’s practice status is listed as “Full Participation in Practice” by NFL .com. His game-day status, however, is still uncertain.
Addai led all rookie running backs with 1,081 rushing yards in 2006. He is remembered for scoring the winning touchdown in the Colts’ 38-34 victory in the 2006 AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots . In the 2010 season, he missed eight games due to a shoulder injury and was held to a career-low 495 rushing yards.
Backups Donald Brown and Delone Carter figure to have an increased role with Addai’s injury. Brown saw extensive action for the first time this season in the Kansas City loss. He finished with 38 yards on eight carries.
