Chuck Pagano Was Released from the Hospital and Other AFC South Must-Reads

Posted By Nate Dunlevy On October 22, 2012 @ 6:11 am In Colts News | No Comments

The Indianapolis Colts [1] got a big win on Sunday, and it wasn’t against [2] the Cleveland Browns [3].

Today’s article of the day comes from Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star [4], who reports that head coach Chuck Pagano was released from a local hospital early on Sunday and watched the game from home.

Pagano is battling leukemia.

While the former Baltimore Ravens [5] coordinator is still a ways away from returning to coaching, word that he’s out of the hospital is welcome news. Furthermore, it is a relief for his players and the many fans who have been praying for his full recovery.

Pagano still has a long, difficult road ahead of him, and his team will continue to suffer in his absence. However, there’s no question that his early progress should be celebrated by all. His plight has served to raise awareness of the need for continued research to find cures for the devastating illness.

His team has rallied in his absence, going 2-1 since he was diagnosed during the bye week. Make no mistake, the Colts need him back. Bruce Arians has filled in admirably, but has been erratic in his decision making.

When Pagano does return to the sidelines, it will be the biggest boon of all to a young team.
