Andrew Luck: Breaking Down Rookie QB’s Chances of Taking Colts to Playoffs

Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck is treading a fine line while trying to take his team to the playoffs this season.
The question remains: Will QB Andrew Luck be able to lead the Colts into the playoffs in his rookie season?
Through six games of the regular season, Luck has put up his fair share of numbers to push the team. He has a total of 1,674 passing yards, 134 completions, 10 touchdowns and has been efficient in protecting the ball, throwing just seven interceptions.
It’s fair to say that Luck is having a decent rookie season, one that he will only build upon and strengthen as the games go on.
The Colts are not projected to go anywhere this season; with missing parts on defense and offense, they were expected to use this year as a rebuilding period for the franchise. Key players need to be found via free agency or trades and it takes time to become a playoff contender in the NFL . A 3-3 start that puts the Colts right in the middle of the AFC playoff race is a sign that they are playing above expectations, but not by much.
Luck said that it is is main goal to make the playoffs this season (via thestarpress.com ):
To win football games. The big picture, making it to the playoffs. Hopefully you have a chance to win the big one.
Of course Luck is going to shoulder those expectations with this Colts team. It’s every rookie’s dream of making the playoffs and getting their shot at a Super Bowl.
Realistically, if Luck were to heat up starting against the Tennessee Titans , the Colts might be able to take the momentum of a two-game winning streak and build upon it for the rest of the season.
Fans must remember that this Colts team was terrible last season, going 2-14. Luck has already bested that total through six games; playoffs or not, they are moving in the right direction.
The Colts have some favorable things going their way for a playoff run.
The Texans will be anything but easy. Two wins against them will go a long way into securing the Colts a playoff spot, but the team will have to play better from top to bottom.
Reality is against Luck’s plans for the playoffs, but you never know. For as good as Luck is at QB, special things can happen.
