Ahmad Bradshaw and Indianapolis Colts Agree on 1-Year Contract

Ahmad Bradshaw was a tough cut from the New York Giants earlier this offseason, but it didn’t take him long to find a new home. According to the Indianapolis Colts ‘ official website , the 27-year-old running back is their latest free-agent acquisition of the offseason.
Pro Football Talk added the contract’s details.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that the deal was done.
It’s an intriguing pickup for the Colts, as they have just landed a productive halfback who is arguably still in his prime. Despite fighting through nagging injuries in 2012, Bradshaw managed to carry the ball 221 times for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns.
Vick Ballard, 22, had a promising season last year, rushing for 814 yards, and it will be interesting to see how Bradshaw’s presence impacts his role.
Bradshaw underwent a procedure to replace screws that were inserted in his right foot after suffering a fracture in 2009 and crack in 2011. While this is obviously a major area of concern, the RB appears to be rehabilitating just fine from offseason surgery.
The injuries certainly haven’t stopped the seven-year veteran from competing at a high level in the past, as he’s rushed a total of 921 times for 4,232 yards and 32 touchdowns since entering the league in 2007.
The New York Giants’ seventh-round pick that year wound up becoming a solid receiver as well, catching 132 passes for 1,087 yards and three touchdowns during his career. In addition, Bradshaw is regarded as one of the best pass-blocking backs in the league, which makes him an asset on every single down.
After winning two Super Bowls in five years with the G-Men, the business side of the NFL reared its ugly head and forced the organization to sever ties with the RB.
Considering Bradshaw was due $3.75 million in 2013—blocking the development of 2012 first-round pick David Wilson and unneeded for a backup role with Andre Brown on the roster—it was time for the feature back to move on.
He’s found a place with Indianapolis and should immediately contribute out of the backfield. We expect Bradshaw has plenty left in the tank, and there could easily be yet another 1,000-yard season on the horizon.
